Tobacco Control and Cessation
The harmful health effects of tobacco use are well known, yet tobacco use persists. National health organizations and agencies ask that all universities be smoke-free. As of 2014, nearly 1,500 American colleges and universities had implemented smoke free policies, and of those, nearly 1000 had gone completely tobacco free. Drexel University does not yet have such a policy in place. PHIA organizes and executes events and produces written reports and materials to help transform Drexel to a university that promotes health through adoption of a tobacco-free policy.
